New Mexicans can expect their first mortgage payment sometime in June, according to new details about a plan designed to offset high costs and rising costs of living.

The State Department of Taxation and Revenue decided earlier this week that the first of the two payments will arrive in June. (May was previously floated as a possibility.) The company also provides answers to taxpayer questions on its website.
New Mexico Governor Signs Tax Cuts Bill
Most New Mexicans can expect three refunds, each coming in June, July and August. The July refund — $500 for married couples and $250 for single filers — is only available to people under certain income limits, including $150,000 for returns and $75,000 for single filers.
The New Mexico State Legislature earlier this month approved rebates for all New Mexico taxpayers. They are $1,000 for joint filers or $500 for individual filers.
These payments will be split into two payments, one in June and the other in August. They are available to all taxpayers who have submitted a personal income tax return, regardless of their income level, and no application or documentation is required.
Residents will receive a discount in the same account where they receive a tax refund or pay taxes - by direct deposit or check.

Taxpayers who apply for additional rebates will receive their refunds immediately after their returns are processed, according to the state. The deadline for submitting tax returns to receive payments is May 31, 2023.
The money will be given to citizens who have filed taxes, regardless of whether they have an ID number or an individual tax number.
Taxpayers may see their rebates cut to offset their debt, according to the state.
The state is making $20 million available — available on a first-come, first-served basis — for new Mexicans who don't file taxes. Individuals applying for this allowance can receive $500, and families with married couples or one or more dependents can receive $1,000.
